should i get a mommy makeover?Have you lost some of your youthful shape due to pregnancy, aging, or heredity? This is a common issue, and explains why the mommy makeover has grown rapidly in popularity over the last few years. The mommy makeover continues to be a successful way to help women of many different ages and body types regain their pre-baby shape.

Pregnancy and body changes

Pregnancy is a treasured time for many women, but it’s no secret that it takes its toll on the female body. After having a baby, many women are disappointed to find that diet and exercise just don’t give them back the body they once had. Sagging skin and stretched out muscles can give the belly a larger, less toned appearance, and the breasts may appear saggy, smaller, or less firm. In addition, some pockets of fat can show up in places that were never a problem before. For these reasons, the mommy makeover has become the most effective solution for women who wish to be moms without the “mom body.”

A customized set of procedures

It’s important to know that a mommy makeover is not one specific procedure for everyone. Typically, it includes a combination of surgeries that are specially designed to give you a younger, sleeker, pre-baby body. In fact, a mommy makeover can include totally different procedures for different people. So for instance, if you’re thinking about a breast lift — but don’t need implants for volume — you don’t need them to enjoy a mommy makeover. Your plastic surgeon will work with you during your consultation to determine exactly which procedures will give you the most beautiful results. Most mommy makeovers include some combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction.

The best candidate for a mommy makeover

As with any cosmetic procedure, you should have realistic expectations of what a mommy makeover can do for you. Make sure your decisions are based on your own wants and needs and your own self-confidence, not to make someone else happy.

In addition, procedures like liposuction and tummy tucks are best for people who are within 10 pounds of their ideal weight, as losing or gaining significant weight afterward can undo some of your results. You’ll want to be sure you’re done having children, too — as the tummy will stretch back out with another pregnancy.

Take recovery seriously

Finally, make sure you have the ability to rest and recover after the surgery. You’ll need someone to watch your children for a while, and you will need to take it easy for a couple of weeks. Don’t try to be “supermom” and get back to your regular life immediately after surgery. Your recovery will take a hit and you could develop complications. You deserve a little time for yourself after you’ve given so much to your family — so count on help from others to make it happen!
