Everyone wants to have a tighter, slimmer figure, and that involves working your abdominal muscles. Crunches are the traditional go-to move that generations of people have claimed as the ultimate ab workout. However, as more and more exercises are being developed and discovered, crunches are no longer America’s favorite go-to ab exercise.
Here are three moves from celebrity trainer Joel Harper that can help you get the firm, tight abs you’ve always dreamed of:
Taking the stairs is better for you than riding in an elevator or escalator. Using a staircase, you can get tighter abs by placing one foot on the first or second step, and gently lift up (knee bent) and tap down your other foot. Switch your legs after 20 reps, and repeat about three or four sets per leg.
You may not believe that lying on your back can help your abs, but if you lift your legs up, and use your abs to move them in circles, the exercise can be effective at toning your abs! Keep your legs together, and your feet pointed moving in one direction for about 25 reps, then reverse after a 30-second rest period. Repeat the sequence with your feet flexed, and you’ll be well on your way to a tighter core in no time!
Towel runs are similar to mountain-climbers with a few variations. First, place two washcloths underneath the balls of your feet as you rest in a pushup position on a smooth floor. Next, slide one foot up, bring your knee toward your chest, then return it back to its original position. Then, slide the other foot up and back. Keep your feet on the floor, and count backward from 100.
