According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), eyelid surgery, also known as a blepharoplasty, was one of the top five cosmetic surgical procedures of 2016. The surgery continues to retain its popularity, not just as a solution for drooping eyelids, but also as a way for patients to tweak a facial feature and achieve the overall look they desire. Many patients are drawn to instant improvements to the face, and we see this as a result of the popularity of apps and filters that change how we can shape our faces. Eyelid surgery is a great add-on to any facial rejuvenation or cosmetic procedure, as it offers dramatic results for low downtime, it's easy to bundle with other surgeries and the procedure is Hollywood-approved.

Great Results, Less Downtime

The effects of time and gravity naturally cause the eyes to appear droopy, sagging and tired. Today's eyelid surgeries can result in a very natural look and can be performed relatively quickly and painlessly with a minimal recovery time, especially when combined with other surgeries. Imagine how long the facial rejuvenation process would take if you did every procedure separately. Fortunately, for patients and doctors alike, many facial procedures can be performed in tandem, reducing the number of hours logged at our office, as well as those spent on the couch marathon-watching your favorite show while you recover.

Easily Combined With Other Procedures

Eyelift surgery can be done in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures that address signs of aging like lip injections, dermal fillers, laser skin resurfacing and face or brow lifts. However, at Monarch, we combine eyelifts with a number of different cosmetic surgeries and body contouring procedures. Pictured below is Dr. Keith Hodge with two of our nurses, Brandie and Bree, who added an upper and lower eyelid rejuvenation surgery as an add-on procedure to a breast augmentation the other day!

Trendy Among Celebs

Among the many people who undergo eyelid surgery or eyelift rejuvenations are our favorite celebrities! Consider Paul McCartney at 74 years young who hasn't shown any signs of slowing down his music career. However, Sir Paul has shown signs of aging, which is what prompted him to undergo a blepharoplasty procedure. Now, his eyes look refreshed and he no longer has hooded eyes or bags underneath. Likewise, Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger had corrective eyelift surgery to address the skin around her eyes that gave the appearance she was constantly squinting. The Bridget Jones's Diary star has a new, refreshed look and it's winning her praise.

If you are considering eyelift surgery to take years off your face and restore your natural beauty, schedule a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.
