The benefits of the surgery are probably quite obvious: a more attractive contour of the neck, chest, abdomen, or thighs. This can help you feel more comfortable and confident both in and out of clothing.

It is important to understand that there are no “guarantees” in life, and certainly not in medicine and surgery. Patients who acknowledge this fact are very satisfied following cosmetic surgery.

How Smartlipo liposuction works

Smartlipo can eliminate targeted areas of unwanted fat. It avoids the  risks of general anesthesia, as it is done as an in-office procedure using local anesthesia and light “oral sedation” (a pill that we will prescribe for you to help “take the edge off”).

The procedure begins with several very small incisions through which we will instill the local anesthetic fluid, called tumescent. Next, a small diameter laser fiber is inserted and directed into the fatty tissues. The laser has several desired effects: disrupting fat cells, making them easier to remove; helping to minimize bruising; and tightening of the overlying skin through a heating effect. We then use the same incisions to physically remove the unwanted fat with traditional liposuction. This is carried out with a small canula device attached to a regulated suction machine to remove the fat. The incisions require one suture, and then compressive dressings are applied to limit swelling. It may take some time to see the final results, but in 6-12 weeks, the outcome can be very positive.
