This ebook is designed to help you understand the issues surrounding facelift surgery, clinically referred to as a “rhytidectomy.” The benefits of the surgery are probably quite obvious: a tighter, more contoured face with less skin excess and wrinkles, and improved positioning of the tissues of your jaw line (jowls). These results can help you feel more comfortable and confident about the way you look.
What is the “Monarch Mini Facelift”?
A Monarch Mini Facelift is an in-office procedure typically done under local anesthesia with some light oral sedation (a pill you will be prescribed to help “take the edge off”). Facelifts are often combined with other techniques such as laser-assisted liposuction of the neck, upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) or a chemical peel of the facial skin to improve the coloration and rejuvenation effect. The Monarch Mini Facelift takes roughly 3 hours to complete, depending upon your particular case. In some instances, your physician may recommend a general anesthetic, especially if you are wanting to do multiple procedures during one surgery.
If you are bothered by signs of aging in your face, facelift surgery may be right for you. A facelift can improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:
Sagging in the midface
Loose skin of the neck
Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
Fat that has fallen, displaced, or has shrunken or “atrophied”
Loss of muscle tone in the lower face, which may create jowls
The mini facelift technique used by Monarch Plastic Surgery involves a shorter incision and final scar, and eliminates the need for general anesthesia. The mini facelift is very effective at redraping the skin of the face and producing a sharper jawline, with significant improvement in jowling and tightening of the loose neck skin.
The Monarch mini facelift offers a very quick recovery, with relatively limited bruising and swelling compared to a full facelift. A compression garment is recommended for one week. After the first week, sutures are removed and you will begin scar care and massage. Makeup may be applied once the sutures are removed.
