At the recent premiere party for the upcoming TV series “The Slap” in New York, Uma Thurman became the talk of Hollywood as everyone jumped at her change in appearance. She graced the red carpet in a black dress and statement red lips, but many looked at her brow and eyes and instantly assumed she had undergone at least one cosmetic procedure. However, Thurman’s makeup artist Troy Surratt sat down with PEOPLE to set the record straight.
“Frankly, I’m quite surprised by the conversation,” said Surratt. “By now I would have thought that we were all open to and knowledgeable of the role that makeup plays in the world of fashion and particularly celebrity, as a medium for creative self expression.”
Surratt admitted that he and Thurman sat down and discussed how they wanted to do her makeup for the premiere. He stated he had grown tired of the “lash-y looks and fake eyelashes,” and thus didn’t use mascara at all on Thurman. For her skin, Surratt used a glowing foundation and a BeautyBlender to give her a natural look of radiance.
Although Surratt does make a good point about makeup and its transformative powers, a NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Norman Rowe, believes Thurman may have had some work done. Perhaps we’ll never know.
