board-certified plastic surgeonWhile it is important to feel comfortable and at ease with your plastic surgeon, it is even more important to make sure that your surgeon is board-certified and highly qualified to perform your surgery. Monarch Plastic Surgery prides itself on having surgeons who are highly qualified and experienced. We know that you have a number of options for your plastic surgery needs, and it is our goal to help you make an informed decision when it comes to choosing an experienced and qualified plastic surgeon.

In the process of choosing a plastic surgeon, it is important to understand that plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are not one and the same. In fact, there are no special requirements physicians need to refer to themselves as a cosmetic surgeon. On the other hand, a plastic surgeon must have many years of specialty training and experience in plastic surgery before they can become eligible for board-certification as a plastic surgeon. Plastic surgery certification includes a minimum of five years of surgical training following medical school, including residency or fellowship in plastic surgery. Many plastic surgeons also go on to obtain subspecialty training in hand surgery or microsurgeries, reconstructive procedures, and facial surgeries. Plastic surgeons also must complete rigorous continuing education and training in order to maintain their board certification.

Keeping in mind the level of extensive training a plastic surgeon is required to undergo, you can rest assured that not only will you be in the hands of an experienced surgeon, but also in the hands of a doctor who is trained to handle emergencies. Plastic surgeons also understand every aspect of the human body and are able to combine science with artistry to provide results that are individually tailored to each patient.
