“Mommy makeover,” a term used to describe undergoing more than one body contouring procedure at the same time to help restore a woman’s body after pregnancy, has become more popular in recent years. Today’s mothers love their children, but also love their pre-baby bodies and aren’t afraid to admit it by regaining their ideal image through plastic surgery. A survey by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) found a whopping 62 percent of women said they would consider a “mommy makeover” if cost weren’t an issue.

Commonly included plastic surgery procedures in a “mommy makeover” include a breast lift, breast augmentation, liposuction and tummy tuck, with the breast augmentation/tummy tuck combination being the most popular. In fact, a report released by the ASPS showed breast augmentation procedures up 4 percent and liposuction procedures up 6 percent from the previous year. In addition, an eyelid lift, facial injections or vaginal rejuvenation procedure has also been added to “mommy makeover” bundles.

To get the most out of your “mommy makeover,” the ASPS recommends waiting at least six months to one year after having your last child and if you are trying to lose weight, to do so prior to the procedure. As always, healthy eating and exercise can go a long way in maintaining the look of your procedures.

You may ask, “Is it worth it?” According to RealSelf users, YES! RealSelf, a growing website with tens of millions of users who share their experience with cosmetic procedures. The site, which also features Q&A sessions with plastic surgeons, has given “mommy makeovers” a 97 percent Worth it Rating. This rating is based on 2,779 ratings generated on the site over the last 24 months.
