While the holidays are perfect for festive parties 🥂 and quality time with friends and family ❤️, the preparation leading up to the fun, demands a lot of your energy! The additional requirements can also have devastating effects on your diet, sleep and normal routine, which can hurt your state of mind. Here are some tips to help you take care of yourself while enjoying the 🎄festivities!

Make A List, and Check It Twice 🎅

It can be tempting to take on a lot during the holidays. You can get wrapped up in the excitement of the season, and before you know it, be signed up to make desserts for three events, host Christmas dinner for your whole family, shop for gifts and keep up with your day-to-day. Before you start volunteering, write down everything you want to do this month and realistically think about if you are fully booked or if you can add another item to your list.

Try To Stick To Your Normal Routine 💤

Last-minute things pop up all the time, but for some reason, this seems to happen more during the holidays. Be it extra errands, your children’s seasonal school events or surprise deadlines at work, it is important to stick to your regular routine as much as possible when it comes to your sleep schedule and diet. When you are able to maintain a healthy routine during the holidays, it will help you experience fewer fluctuations in your mood and energy.

Lean On Your Support System 💗

You may feel like everything is on your shoulders and everyone is depending on you to make the holidays perfect. Everyone needs help once in a while, so don’t feel bad if you need to ask for some. If you are feeling stressed about everything on your to-do list, ask a spouse, friend or a family member who may have less on their plate to lend a hand. You may be surprised how excited they are to be included in the holiday preparation.

Treat Yourself 💁‍♀️

The busy nature of the holiday season can be part of the fun, but if it becomes overwhelming, try and take a step back, and treat yourself to some alone time. This could be as simple as taking a bath with a face mask or drinking a hot cup of tea while reading a chapter of your favorite book. This time alone will leave you rejuvenated and ready to dive back into the festivities!
