remove unwanted fat with smartlipoMany people have those annoying little areas of fat that just don’t seem to go away. These areas could be on the tummy, waist, hips, back, arms, knees, or even the neck. Wherever they seem to plague you, they can make you feel self-conscious and less confident, even if you work hard to take good care of yourself.

Many people mistakenly think that to get rid of small areas of fat, they need to undergo traditional liposuction. If they’re too busy or don’t want to undergo major surgery, they may put off the procedure, all the while wishing there was something they could do to eliminate those bothersome pockets of fat.

Fortunately, there is a quicker, easier option that is perfect for removing smaller areas of fat and will have you back to your life in no time: Smartlipo™.

How Smartlipo is different

Traditional liposuction remains an excellent procedure for removing larger areas of fat, but it’s a more involved procedure. You’ll be given general anesthesia and the cannula (thin tube) used by your plastic surgeon requires larger incisions. In addition, you’ll need several days of recovery and will wear a compression garment for four to six weeks.

With Smartlipo, you have smaller incisions because your surgeon uses a slim laser to target and break down fat cells. The laser also has the added advantage of helping to tighten your skin. Instead of general anesthesia, your surgeon will likely use local anesthesia with sedation. With this less invasive technique, patients generally have less swelling, bruising, and recovery time. In fact, many can go back to work the next day. A compression garment is typically worn for only two weeks.

Deciding which is best

As with any cosmetic procedure, you’ll need the expertise of a skilled plastic surgeon to help you decide which procedure will work best for you. Generally, smaller areas of fat respond well to Smartlipo. If you’re looking for more dramatic results or wish to eliminate larger areas of fat, traditional liposuction may be the better choice. Because of the differences involved, Monarch Plastic Surgery offers both procedures for the convenience of our patients.

You and your surgeon can discuss which procedure(s) might help you achieve your goals, and which ones fit with your needs and lifestyle. During this conversation, ask to see before and after photos of the procedures you’re considering. These photos can tell you a lot about the surgeon’s skill and what kind of results you can expect to achieve.

Once you’ve talked with your plastic surgeon and gotten your questions answered, you can make an informed decision that makes you feel good. You don’t have to live with unattractive areas of fat that make you feel and look heavier than you are. Find out what Smartlipo can do for you.
