full body liftIt’s the downside of hard work. You lose a significant amount of weight, or get back into shape after pregnancy, and you’re feeling great – except now you’re left with loose, sagging skin and possibly excess fat in areas that just won’t budge.

Skin is elastic, but after weight loss or pregnancy, it may not return to its original shape. For some people, genetics, age, and sun damage may hinder your skin’s ability to “bounce back,” and despite your best efforts, you just can’t tighten those areas again. It can put a damper on your urge to shop for new clothes or show off your slimmer self when you’ve worked so hard to lose weight.

Enhancing confidence after weight loss

Fortunately, a body lift can be the answer for many people in this situation. A body lift is designed to tone and tighten problem areas by eliminating and/or tightening excess skin, tightening supportive tissues, and removing excess fat deposits when needed. It can also correct cellulite and remove stretch marks in many cases. The result is a dramatic re-shaping and smoothing of multiple body areas, including the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

Because each patient’s body shape and desired goals are different, your body lift procedure should be customized for you. During your consultation with your plastic surgeon, you should talk about your goals for your body shape and what can be done to achieve those goals. Some patients may need a tummy tuck, thigh lift, and buttock lift, while others may not need all three of these procedures.

What to expect after a body lift

A body lift is major surgery, and requires you to care for yourself in the weeks following your procedure. Typically you can leave the hospital after one or two days, and you will be given instructions on how to care for yourself and your incisions as your body heals and takes on its new, beautiful shape.

You will wear a special compression garment that helps reduce swelling and promote healing. It’s very important to drink plenty of caffeine-free liquids and eat a healthy diet. You will also need to rest as much as possible, and your surgeon will need to give you clearance before you can return to work.

A body lift is a great way to reward yourself for your weight loss efforts. Don’t let sagging skin and tissue make you shy away from being proud of your new figure. You can have the youthful, shapely figure you deserve with a body lift procedure at Monarch Plastic Surgery.
